THE clamour for tickets for Scunthorpe United's Carling Cup clash with Manchester United has already started.

The club have suspended their Iron Membership scheme which gives fans a priority for cup tickets.

But over the last couple of days a number of United fans have been down to Glanford Park buying season tickets to ensure they get a seat to see Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

Tickets do not actually start going on sale online until tomorrow, firstly to season ticket holders.

Iron Membership fans then get their chance, starting online from next Monday.

There is going to be a huge demand for what is the biggest match ever staged at Glanford Park, scheduled for Wednesday, September 22.

All the sponsorship packages have already been sold out.

"The restaurant is also sold out and we are putting on extra hospitality in the Study United Centre," said the Iron's commercial manager, Michelle Harness.

"We are also getting a big demand from companies wanting advertising space.

"And we have had over a hundred applications from parents wanting their children to be a mascot.

"We are hoping to have four mascots on the night, two from us and two which we will provide for Manchester United."

    “Where is the conspiracy?

Maybe I'm imagining that the prices have gone up, it's harder for the man on the street to turn up for games and everything is stacked in favour of having to buy a season ticket?

Maybe it's me and the youth team is actually over funded, the ground already has the two teirs first promised in 1988 and Adkins is fed up of being ofered funds to compete with Crawley etc?

Call yoursen a fan? Open your eyes and stop inventing 'conspiracies'!

HUMANS ARE A STRANGE BREED - YOU BELIEVE ELVIS IS STILL ALIVE YET GOD ISN'T?

    *strokes chin*

I'm looking but can't find any conspiracy...regail us all with more rosy tales of sitting on that 0845 number back in ye olde 2009...we love a bit of footballing romance eh?

    Up the Iron!”

“Ere, I say you bounders - anyone would think that being on hold as 'second in the queue' for half an hour, on a 0845/£5 per 30 mins line equates to camping out for Cup Final tickets in 1923 .... it hardly gives me the same sort of buzz that a home cooked meal would!

Blimey - basking tin the glory of paying an extra fiver eh - you Ned Flanders types wanna ask yourselves 'why we dont get decent gates every week'...you'll find that CASH IS KING and charging £20/25 to non season ticket holders is as big an own goal as 25 years as the only club in the country with a Thatcher-ite/Luton membership scam is. Its a scam sponsored by the SET in return for stories...nevermind any impartial opinions.

S-l-o-w down with the negativity jibes at anyone daring to ask why Adkins/the Youth team/GP is clearly underfunded whilst we see cash windfall after windfall for NPC United....it's just proper supporters asking proper questions.

    Up the Iron!”

“I'm sure the latest season ticket purchases are by regular attending fans. I cannot believe anyone would be daft enough to buy a season ticket for one match.”

“Actually they are on sale ON-LINE only for Thursday and Friday for season ticket holders ONLY.
Pretty sure I'll still get mine on Saturday when I drive down to GP.”

“As a long time season ticket holder I am paying £16 versus £8.30 for a league game. I would gladly pay more. I never cease to be amazed at the negativity of some of the comments on this site. If part time supporters are prepared to buy a season ticket to ensure they get a game then fantastic business for United. But I imagine it will be regular supporters who have enough faith in the IRON to buy tickets for every home league game for the rest of the season - great value they are too.

“So non- regulars want to watch us against Man U. Exactly the same scenario as would occur in any other town in the country. Grow up and stop being a bunch of whining ninnies. As a long time season ticket holder I hope some of the newbies enjoy themselves enough to come back again and again. But if they don't, I won't cry. It's their money and you can't force regular attendance on people who happen to have different priorities to you.”

“Pathetic! People in this town can't be bothered to get themselves down to the ground to watch one of the best teams this club's ever had, but can be bothered to fork out to guarantee themselves a ticket to watch man united's reserves. Unbelievable. Perhaps this is why the club don't bother trying to push tickets more. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CLUB, PEOPLE!”

“How's about a reference to the story on 'how great it is that ticket prices have increased by a fiver - but it wont affect season ticket holders'?

What a rip off Iron - sneaky too....all sponsored by the SET....the average man in the street is now forced into buying a season ticket before a ball is kicked, or face buying a ticket online/collecting it from an office/queueing at a turnsile then sitting in the worst seat possible at a fiver more than everyone else - either way when Man U reserves stroll into town it's an extra fiver for the loyal season ticket holder....fair play if we were seeing any cash ever filter through to the ground, the squad or the youth team but there has been no evidence of that in half a decade.

Also - the poll on 'is Fergie the best manager ever'...I see the patronising drivel has already started.

As for the restaurant being sold out etc....I notice it hasnt been for any of the previous home games, despite the promotions offered by SUFC - surely this is an indicator that we are in a recession and Uniteds attitude to it's core support is waaaay out of line? Not that you'd know it reading the SET's Stalanist re-writing of history.

RUBBISH SET - SHAME ON YOU IRON.

'SET - Champion of the people' indeed.

    Up the Iron!”
