Dennis Hobson has confirmed he has joined the Scunthorpe United board
The Iron have yet to release an official statement but Hobson said he is looking forward to "making a difference".
"As far as I'm concerned, I've confirmed I'm on the board," he told the Telegraph. "I'm pleased to be involved.

"It's a great club and I love the feel of the club.
"I've met quite a few people involved at the club and I've got a good feel for it. Hopefully I can make a difference and I'm sure I will.
"Because of what I've done in the past I've got confidence in my ability. I'm confident I've got the contacts and the know-how to make a difference, that's what I'm aiming to do.
"But don't expect a magic wand."
The Jersey-based businessman revealed to the Telegraph last week that he was reluctant to invest in Scunthorpe, preferring to use his contacts to help boss Brian Laws with player recruitment.
And as yet, he holds no shares in the club – though has not ruled that out in the future.
"That's to be discussed at length yet," said Hobson.
"I'm not saying I wouldn't take any shares. I would hope to get some players in the club and take it from there.
"That's another discussion we've got to have.
"I'm open minded about anything."

“In addition, I wouldn't expect him to start explaining how he hopes to use his connections. It's not something you can explain easily, there isn't a text book about it and besides, he's hardly going to start mentioning his connections before he's spoken to them persoanlly is he? You need to get in the real world of business ironite not the theoretical one.”

“Doubly More and Bleater F***. Isn't that you and oscar? I don't actually see what's cloak and dagger about it personally. He's been accepted on the board because, even though he's not prepared to invest and hasn't got any shares yet, beggars can't be choosers and they just have to hope he will in the future because frankly, there's no one else coming forward. I don't think there's any reason to be too optimistic about statements like 'love the feel of the club' it's the least one would expect a new Director to say, though I'm hoping his inclusion on the Board will influence potential Directors who ARE prepared to invest and in turn leverages the new funding we desperately need. That's where the optimism lies for me.”

“Great to see someone finally want to get on the board and the use of phrases like "love the feel of the club" raise plenty of optimism levels. In all fairness the sound of a different approach like using his own contacts to assist our much-needed recruitment drive will have been refreshing in times when our finances weren't in an apocalyptic state, so its doubly more so when they are.
I would prefer a little less cloak-and-dagger though and perhaps the chance for the fans to understand what Hobson can bring to the party (because presumably not too many of us know what kind of connections a boxing promoter will have that can benefit a beleaguered football club). I'd also be interested to know how Wharton's pending departure is going to affect these plans...”
