“Exactly Delboy
The authorities can ban as many things as they like, but the only people that abide by the ban are the honest folk.
Banning hard drugs hasn't led to the end of drug dealers & users.
Banning knives hasn't led to the end of knife crime.
Banning underage drinking hasn't led to a youth culture that is teetotal.
Banning slapping kids hasn't led to a nation of well mannered and respectful teenagers.
Banning owning a firearm (unless very strict parameters are followed) has not, and never will stop, those who want to carry one.
If banning things really worked they would have banned stupidity many years ago”

“The debate over guns/rifles and knives went belly up years ago.
can't carry a knife of ANY description (includes pen knives)
Can't walk from a to b (b being field or shooting range) with a firearm even if it's in a proper gun cover.
Can't buy a pump action shotgun that holds more than three rounds, what the hell is that all about.
If you intended to kill someone with a shotgun and three cartridges doesn't do the job then i suggest you don't bother loading it,turn it round and beat them to death with the heavy end.
The major point here that nobody picks up on is:-
THE ONLY PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLES/PISTOLS AND EIGHT CHAMBER PUMP ACTION SHOTGUNS ARE THE CRIMS.
How the hell did that happen------Oh hang on i just remembered doh.”

“They should only be available to professionals with a licence, they're not toys. Until that happens, which it won't because our politicians are wimps, all pellets should be made of soft plastic. Darts should be banned.
I remember when flick-knives, powerful catapults and crossbows were common place and the fuss that was made by selfish people when we banned them; get over it and take up pickling. Only psychopaths take pleasure from injuring people and animals.”

“Ewbfchamp,
By your thinking then we should ban cars as they kill people in the hands of idiots. I was shot myself when younger but still think that guns shouldn't be banned.”

“crickfan , i agree i also shoot targets , Its parents that are to blame bring back licenses for air guns . With heavy fines for those how do not have one , Air guns should only be sold by dealers and through shooting clubs , I shoot at a club and have a proper target stand in the garden .But there are many stupid grown ups that shoot in there gardens at birds and tin cans its up to neighbors to report them your not telling me no one heard the shots on this occasion or on any previous occasion they could have informed the police no i do not have one but i believe my neighbor has one .”

“I consider my son was very lucky not to have had the pellet lodged in his heart - or could have been his eye ! I still maintain all guns should be banned.”

“I agree that there may be more than just a few idiots but i've enjoyed target shooting many times so why should that be stopped because of the idiots? It's far too easy just to ban things when someone should actually be dealing with this kind of scum in society...”

“casiofx85gt - there are far more than 'a few idiots' with guns! Would your opinion change if your child or pet or someone that you cared about had been shot at??”
