Dolphin make splash with surprise cup victory in Fallen Hero Scunthorpe Sunday Football League

The teams through to four cup finals were sorted out this week in the Fallen Hero Scunthorpe Sunday Footabll League.

The Mick Stockdale Cup will be an all division 7 final after div 6 leaders Brigg SM Res were surprisingly beaten by div 7 mid table Dolphin by 2-1. the same scoreline as the other semi-final which saw the division top two going heads to head. App-Frod Comet beating leaders Winterton OB.

The final of the H.(N) Clark competition wll see div 5 leaders AFC Epworth play Duffs Dynamos, strugglers for years now, but in sight of some silverwear! Both semi finals being close games with scores of 3-2 in each.

The Geg McGowan, for div 4 teams also saw two bottom half teams reach the final. Baysgarth OB Res seeing off local rivals, New Holland, 8-2, while FC Britannia beat bottom team Ashby Villa 3-1. Unbeaten division 3 leaders, Messingham eased past Barton Broncos 5-2 to reach the Ireson final, where mid table, Real Priory, 5-1 winners at SC Wanderers will be their opponents.

Competitions for the top two divisions will reach the final stage this Sunday. Beacon needed extra time & penalties to beat Burton Westlands in their dave Ward semi, while BLC Honest Crust beat Ferry Road 5-3 to reach the ted Harrison Final.

Details for all the Cup Finals will be announced shortly.

In the handfull of League games played, goals from Townell, Dixon and Brumby gave div 4 Trinity their first point since the opening day of the season in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Ulceby Fox. Division 3 bottom team Crowle Utd Res moved away from the relegation area with a 4-2 win at DNC Electrical. Division 6 Championship chasers, Broughton Thatch slipped up with a 2-2 draw at Lincs Utd, while the days biggest score also came in div 6, FC United of Scunthorpe, beating Barton, 8-1, while in div 5, AFC Rileys Snooker moved back to the top with a narrow 2-1 win at MS Priory.
