The ladies held an individual Stableford.

Although the freezing weather made the ground rock solid and the competition was played on winter greens, the glorious sunshine made for an enjoyable round of golf.

Two competitions were played, one over nine holes and one over 18.

Jean Westbrook triumphed in the former with 18 points, while Gill Farren (40) came top over 18 holes.

Polly Brettle was runner-up with 36 points after a count-back from Jenny Hedley.

At Ashby Decoy, 43 seniors entered an individual Stableford competition for the Seniors' Christmas Cup.

With 12 prizes on offer competition was keen, despite a hard frost which made scoring difficult.

In first place, with 40 points, and winner of the cup was Phil Johns.

Second place went to Tony Harrison with 38 points. Stan Ward (36) was third.

Other prize winners were: Eric Maclellan, Tony Keech, Richard Bowers, Alan Harrison, Terry Robinson, Brian Rothwell, Ken Bradwell, Pete Stamp and Dave Mills with scores in the 33 to 35 range.

The twos sweep was won by Keith Moody and Alan Teece.
