Driver cut free from vehicle after Westwoodside accident which closes road for an hour

A driver had to be cut free from his vehicle after an accident in Westwoodside this afternoon (Thursday Jan 10).

Two cars were involved in the collision on Doncaster Road shortly before 12.30pm.

The casualty was treated by ambulance service personnel at the scene. His injuries were reported by police to be non-life threatening.

Humberside and Nottinghamshire fire crews attended along with police officers from those counties and South Yorkshire.

Police said the collision occurred at Doncaster Road's junction with Idlebank and involved a silver Vauxhall Astra car-derived van and a VW Passat.

Traffic delays resulted and the stretch of road was closed for a while, re-opening at about 1.30pm.

Witnesses are being asked to contact Humberside Police by calling 101 and quoting log number 260 of 10 Jan 2013
