THERE was only standing room left inside Hull New Theatre when The ELO Experience performed in their hometown as part of their nationwide tour.

But there wasn't a still person in sight, as fans waved blue glow sticks, their arms and even body-rocked from side to side.

The band lit up the stage from the very first electronic note, when the atmosphere was brought to life with the opening rifts.

Having seen ELO Experience perform before, I knew I was in for another great performance.

The music transports you on a journey through the best hits from the different decades.

A few step-slides, a projector screen of slideshow clips and the bright light beams keeps the show visually entertaining.

You don't have to bean ELO fan to appreciate the live band and vocals that make up the band's perfect compositions, for there are plenty of tunes that you never knew had been released until they were made famous on television adverts, so even if it's just a line or two of the words you recognise – belt them out and be proud of the music.

Sweet Talkin' Woman and Mr Blue Sky are among my favourite ELO hits.

There are plenty of others though that give you that uplifting feeling like Telephone Lines, Evil Woman and Hold on Tight, All Over the World, and Don't Bring Me Down to name but a few.

And not forgetting those slower hits that you won't be able to avoid such as Can't Get It Out of My Head.

There is no surprise that after seeing one ELO Experience gig you will be hooked like me and ever wanting more.

For I think the band resembles the Beach Boys with their beats, the Bee Gees with their harmonies and the Beatles with their catchy lyrics.

Fans in Hull were in full support to see the band return to the city and there is no doubt that the band will go on to tour for many years to come with their timeless classics.
