Earl banned after speeding up to 125mph
THE Earl of Yarborough has been banned from driving after hitting speeds of 125mph in his BMW on the A1.
Lord Charles Pelham (45), the 8th Earl, admitted speeding near the Cambridgeshire town of Huntingdon on November 27.
-

BANNED: The Earl of Yarborough, who is leader of the Brocklesby Hunt.
The earl, who lives on his family's 28,000-acre Brocklesby estate, was stopped by police in his BMW 750i in the early hours.
He was educated at Eton College, and is known locally as the leader of the annual Boxing Day Brocklesby Hunt.
Huntingdon Magistrates' Court heard on Thursday how Lord Yarborough told police he was travelling to London because there were concerns over the wellbeing of his son.
The court heard police calculated the BMW had been travelling at speeds of between 105 and 125mph.
Banning the nobleman for 90 days, magistrates also fined him £600 with £35 costs and a £15 Government-imposed victim surcharge.
However, as he filled in a means test form, Lord Yarborough, worth an estimated £70-million, assured magistrates he could afford the fine.

“122 mph 6 month jail term = working class 125 mph 90 day ban = upper class no wonder judges want to retain their ' discretionary' powers when it comes to sentencing.”

“Agree with Skint: Fines should be Pro Rata to reflect personal wealth/income...
Maybe along with a more severe punishment, this guy should have been made to run through a field with some hungry foxes chasing him.... he need a bugle up his ass!”

“Farmer Brown. Ban him from going over your land. We had an arrogant "person" who was Master of the Hounds who came on our land one day. He was soon told to clear off in no uncertain terms. Never did it any more. These people think they are above the law - this arrogant man should have got the maximum fine and prison term - but then he would have been let out to go to parties. Only got to look at the Archer case - he should have been stripped of his title. Despicable, arrogant man.”

“It's quite right that he got away with it, a BMW 750i will stop as fast from 120 miles an hour to 0 as a Mondeo would from 70 and that includes reaction times.”

“according to drivingban.co.uk
"Cases where a Summons has been issued, the offence carries between 3 and 6 penalty points and a discretionary ban. The fine, whilst means tested, can range up to £1,000 for offences on non¿motorways and £2,500 for motorway offences".
He should of been fined the maximum at 125mph methinks
