MORE funding is needed to ensure a state-of-the-art educational garden for North Lincolnshire youngsters becomes a reality.

As reported in the Scunthorpe Telegraph, Bottesford-based gardener John Cavill is creating a special project called 'A World Beyond The Classroom', which he will exhibit at the Gardeners' World Live show in June.

It will then be dismantled and rebuilt at Leys Farm Junior School, in Bottesford, as part of Mr Cavill's 'Simply Gardening For Schools' social enterprise.

But unless he can find an extra £7,000 in the next two weeks, the whole thing may be in danger of falling apart.

Mr Cavill said: "We have been sponsored £23,000 altogether and there is over £40,000-worth of goods being given to me so I am in a bit of a quandary over what to do now.

"If I could just get a couple of lots of £2,000 it would make a huge difference.

"We are £7,000 short and I am struggling because if we don't get it, we might have to cancel the whole thing."

After Gardeners' World Live, the garden will be reassembled at the school, where it will also be used to train teachers from across the region and beyond on learning through horticulture.

He said: "I am still pushing ahead with it in the hope that we can attract this last little bit of funding.

"We have got all the materials together and we just need this last bit of capital."
