Ian Harton faces the hard-boiled egg eating challenge in Scunthorpe on Saturday
Ian, 47, has set himself a target of consuming 15 in a 30-minute spell from 3pm onwards to raise money from sponsors for the children’s Christmas party later this month.
He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph's Bar Fly: “I’ve always been a fan of the 1967 Paul Newman movie Cool Hand Luke – but there is no way I could eat 50 eggs in an hour.”

Glenny’s owner Steve Glenworth, inset, said: “We still have to decide whether or not Ian will have to shell the eggs himself.”
In 2006, Anthony Johns, then an 18-year-old trainee plumber, set a North Lincolnshire record by consuming 12 pickled eggs in 10 minutes in a contest at the nearby Talbot Inn.
But the galloping gourmets at Glenny’s have a long way to go to beat the world record, which stands at 65 hard-boiled eggs in six minutes and 40 seconds.
