Hibaldstow 2nds lose despite Dale Coy’s eight for 30

BARTON Town 3rds earned victory in Division One of the North Lindsey League to give themselves hope as they bid to avoid the drop.

Their seven-wicket success against fellow strugglers Marshalls Sports came after the Gainsborough side were bowled out for 64, thanks to George Phillips' five for 16.

EIGHTH WONDER OF THE LINDSEY LEAGUE: Hibaldstow 2nds' Dale Coy (centre) was a man in form with the ball, taking eight wickets for 30 runs as his side slipped to a narrow defeat at the hands of Brigg Town 3rds in Division Two of the North Lindsey League.

Andrew Steeper then guided Barton to an important win with the bat, scoring 30 in his side's response of 65 for three.

In Division Two, Grimsby Town 3rds have been promoted without playing as nearest rivals Hibaldstow 2nds were beaten by Brigg Town 3rds.

Hibaldstow were bowled out for 106, but hit back through Dale Coy, the bowler taking an exceptional eight for 30.

Even those figures were not enough to stop Brigg claiming a one-wicket victory, as Ryan Musselwhite notched 36 for the victors.

Brigg, however, were unable to avoid a bottom two finish as Outcasts 3rds won against Wheatley & Leverton.

Wheatley were bowled out for 137 by the Isle side, Matthew Teal taking four for 24 and Liam McAnaney three for 37.

Teal then proved his worth with the bat, scoring 42, as Outcasts replied with 138 for five.

Alkborough 3rds climbed above Broughton 3rds with an eight-wicket win at West Halton Lane.

After bowling Broughton out for 114, Mark Greenwood made 33 not out as Alkborough eased to 116 for two.

Epworth finished second in the third tier, even though their game with Luddington was postponed due to the weather.

That was down to Misterton 2nds' loss against Bottesford.

Dave Kilgallon hit 97 as Bottesford made 191 all out, Tim Sharpe taking seven for 30 – including a hat-trick – for Misterton who were then bowled out for 148, Jack Beecroft top scoring with 54 not out as Dave Willey took three for 9.

HIBALDSTOW 2NDS v BRIGG TOWN 3RDS: Hibaldstow 106 all out Brigg 107 for 9 (R Musselwhite 36, D Coy 8 for 32) – Brigg win by one wicket.

OUTCASTS 3RDS v WHEATLEY & LEVERTON: Wheatley 137 all out (M Teal 4 for 24, L McAnaney 3 for 37) Outcasts 138 for 5 (P Tait 44, M Teal 42) – Outcasts win by five wickets.

DIVISION THREE

LUDDINGTON v EPWORTH: Postponed due to weather – Luddington 1 point, Epworth 1 point.

MISTERTON 2NDS v BOTTESFORD: Bottesford 191 all out (D Kilgallon 97, T Sharpe 7 for 30) Misterton 148 all out (J Beecroft 54 not out, D Willey 3 for 9) – Bottesford win by 43 runs.
