ON THEIR TRAVELS: Elsham ladies (from left) Pat Ecuyer, Jean Westbrook, Carol Croft and Margaret Hartley, who triumphed at Chesterfield.
Judy Hewitt, Gill Leaning, Sylvia Lowery and Jean Simpkin came second with 78.
And Christine Branton, Angie Powell, Pat Taylor and Margaret Sugden were third with 76 points, beating the lady captain's team on a count-back.
The ladies' A team just missed out on the Lincolnshire Championship against Stoke Rochford at Market Rasen.
A close-fought match, in which three games went to the last hole, saw Elsham miss out by 3½ to ½.
It also proved a tight affair when the seniors played Holme Hall, being beaten 5½ to 4½.
Young Josh Neve gave the performance of the day when over 100 men played in the Charles Smith Trophy.
He scored a very impressive 44 points and went round the course in a gross 69 during the stableford 18-hole competition.
Neve is now playing off a handicap of five, and with this kind of scoring will be even lower very soon.
The event required a maximum 18 handicap and eight players played to better than their handicaps.
In second place, with 41 points, was Jeff Slade, a new member this year.
Three players had 39 points, with Malcolm Lea coming out on top after a count-back.
Regrettably, the field for the Past Captains' Trophy was reduced to just 10 players.
The rules do not allow for the current captain, Tony Hayes, to win, but there was a change which allowed the over-70s to play off the yellow tees.
The winner, with 38 points, was Mike Dennett.
Second, on 35 points, was Brian Eaton and in third on a count-back was Terry Leaning.
