Enterprise Partnerships back campaign for superfast broadband in North Lincolnshire
The Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Humberside Local Enterprise Partnership have got behind the campaign to bring superfast broadband to the area.
They have both written to Ed Vaizey, Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, urging the government to make superfast broadband a priority for the Greater Lincolnshire area – or face economic failure.

The Government is being urged to offer its support
This comes on the back of North Lincolnshire Council's campaign to get 5,000 residents and 500 businesses to register their support for superfast broadband for Northern Lincolnshire. This must happen if we are to have any chance of getting faster broadband.
The area greatly needs faster broadband. It is likely to create thousands of new jobs in the next few years from the arrival of new offshore wind industry.

More than 5,000 new jobs are to be provided by 2015 on the Able Marine Energy Park located on the South Humber Bank.
This is Europe's largest planned offshore wind park and the location of the UK's largest Enterprise zone (248 hectares). A further 5,300 jobs stand to be created on the neighbouring Logistics Park. Development is planned to start in 2013 and could be co-ordinated with the BDUK project.
Wireless broadband could easily and quickly be introduced in the Greater Lincolnshire area as our exchanges are mostly 'fibre ready' requiring little upgrade for superfast broadband.
Overall, more than 12,000 direct new jobs will be created in the short term, but many more jobs can be secured from the co-operation of the industry's supply chain and ancillary high tech businesses across rural North Lincolnshire. But only if superfast broadband connectivity can be delivered in time.

Already, more than 3,000 people have registered their support, but only 300 of those are from businesses. The campaign needs to reach at least 500 businesses by August.
Councillor Neil Poole (Messingham), Cabinet Member for Policy and Resources at North Lincolnshire Council, said: "The greater Lincolnshire area has an excellent business case for superfast broadband. Our bids must take priority, otherwise we risk falling behind economically. We are on the cusp of attracting more businesses to the area and already have a dynamic business set up. Plans for the South Humber Bank in particular that will attract thousands of jobs, make it even more crucial to have faster broadband. Businesses expect no less.
"It is clear there is a desperate need for faster broadband. For years, this area has been left behind. But it cannot continue. I am confident we will get superfast broadband. It is only a matter or time. It will open up so many doors in attracting more businesses to the area and driving forward our local economy – from a business and social point of view. Superfast broadband is without a doubt the way forward."
