Epworth boy Alexander Strong loses long battle against cancer

Alexander Strong, the seven-year-old boy from Epworth who has been battling with cancer, has died.

The boy from Epworth was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare form of children’s cancer, in 2009.

He died at 5am this morning (Friday Jan 25).

In a statement posted on Facebook this morning, his father, Mark Strong, said: “We have lost our son Lex. The little man passed away about an hour ago. He, along with Olivia [their daughter], are our reason for being, and we are extremely sorry to have to tell you this.

His mother, Maxine Strong, said in another comment on Facebook: “He spent the last few days with family and friends and constant love around him. He was courageous and dignified to the end, God bless.”
