Events to mark the 350th birthday of the father of the Wesleys will be taking place in Epworth in December.

Samuel Wesley, the determined Rector of Epworth for nearly 40 years, had a huge influence, particularly on his sons John and Charles Wesley as they developed the Methodist movement.

The first is on Saturday, December 15, at 3pm when a lecture will be given by Peter Forsaith, research fellow of the Oxford Centre for Methodism and Church History.

Both events will be at the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church on High Street.

An exhibition of artifacts from Epworth Old Rectory which relate to Samuel Wesley will be on display throughout the weekend.
