Expert praises hospitality industry leaders

event: An expert in disabled access has praised leaders of the hospitality industry throughout Hull and East Yorkshire for their level of awareness of the difficulties facing some of their guests.

Ian Streets, managing director of Anlaby firm About Access, said hotels in the area are well- versed in the legal and commonsense requirements of disabled guests.

The comments came after Mr Streets pres- ented to management representatives from several local hotels about some key provisions within the Equality Act 2010.

He quizzed his audience at the latest Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitality Association (HEYHA) meeting at the Village Hotel in Hull about facilities for disabled guests and employ- ees.

Paul Vinsen, chairman of HEYHA, said it is important for members to recognise that the increasing number of elderly hotel guests amounts to a significant market.

He said: "Disabled issues should always be on the agenda when you are dealing with the public and we need to recognise that an aging population presents us with a growing market."
