Iron striker Jonathan Forte is grateful for fans' support
JONATHAN Forte has thanked Scunthorpe United's fans for giving him the chance to prove he is Championship class.
The Iron striker believes the backing he has received from manager Nigel Adkins and the terraces at Glanford Park means he goes into this week's international break brimming with confidence.

ON A HIGH: Jonathan Forte.
And having turned in a man-of-the-match performance in Saturday's impressive 3-0 win against Crystal Palace – where he grabbed his first two league goals of the season – Forte is aiming to get even better.
"Every striker needs confidence and if you get goals your confidence is going to be high," said the Yorkshireman, revelling in taking centre stage this season.
"I was delighted to get two on Saturday and hopefully I can carry on scoring goals and getting better and better.
"Obviously you have got to play well, but strikers are judged on goals really.
"The gaffer has given me a lot of confidence.
"He believes in me – so that has been good for me and good for him as well.
"It's always good when the fans get behind you too because that gives you more confidence. I'm delighted they have been.
"There are lots of nice people in Scunthorpe so I'm happy to be here. The fans have been great to me."
Forte's Palace brace means he has scored three goals in six games so far this campaign – making it a good start to the season for the former Sheffield United man.
The 3-0 victory against the Eagles means the Iron have also gone into the international break on a high.
Having taken six points from a possible 12, Forte says United can be happy with their start to the season.
But he also thinks there is a lot more to come.
"Everyone's buzzing going into the break," the 24-year-old continued.
"As a team I think we are doing quite well.
"Obviously you can improve, whatever you do, but I think we are in good stead.
"There's definitely a lot more to come team-wise and individually, so we've just got to keep plugging away.
" I'm just taking things as they come at the moment and hopefully things will keep getting better and better."

“Well done on Saturday, Jonno. I thought you didn't have the necessary composure in front of goal but those two goals were excellent.
It was a great team performance. I just hope that NA's blind spots (Wooly and Cliff) don't impede our progress. Might be an idea to loan Wooly out to a Lge 1 club and try to get a real NPC winger.
SUFC lined up 1-4-1-3-2 vs CP and it worked. Only Toggs on the LHS of the 3 looked uncomfortable. Try him at RB, Nige, he has the speed that CB doesn't and can tackle without being sent off.”

“I believe we have all doubted whether forte would come good but with his extended run this season he has done the club and himself proud. His goals against Palace were very good but it his work rate and positional play which sets him apart from many strikers. He is strong and holds off defenders very well. If he keeps this up we could just have another star striker on our hands.
Well done Jonno.”

“I have said all along if Forte got a good run of games in the team he would score goals. He has actually got a good goals per game ratio for us, when he plays he normally scores. I'm glad you've proved me right Jonno, continue the hard work, the goals will keep on coming!”

“From one of your biggest doubters - glad you have improved and glad you have done it in front of the home crowd, superb composure - keep it up.
Adkins has hopefully dropped his formation tinkering and put you in the position where you will excel - 442 at home will see you get a hat full.”
