A 'GENTLE giant' biker killed in a motorcycle crash was the third member of his family to tragically die on the roads.

Bike fanatic Nick Hall (55), of Barton Lane, Barrow-Upon-Humber lost his partner Christine in a motorbike accident eight years ago and his father was killed in a collision when he was very young.

Mr Hall lost his life on Sunday, when his red Kawasaki ZX 900 left the B1249 near Langtoft, in the Hull area.

Medical staff pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident, which happened at around 1.40pm.

Mr Hall's younger brother Jerry said: "He loved bikes– that was it.

"Although he was cut up about losing Christine he would not let people feel sorry for him and just got on with it.

"Their motto was always 'life is uncertain, so eat your pudding first'."

Long-time friend Nick Lumb (53), said his friend loved bikes, blues and beer and had been lost without his partner.

He said: "Nick didn't want anybody else– he was like a swan.

"For about three years he didn't ride a bike and then he just decided to get back on."

“I had only known "Big Nick" for about six years, but from the first time I met him, it was like talking to an old friend. He was such a lovely guy and so easy to get on with. I have ridden with Nick and was looking forward to doing so again. I will never get on my bike again without thinking of him. He was such a generous person and whenever I walked into the Six Bells, he would instantly be putting his hand into his pocket to buy me a drink. He would always spend time talking with you and had a cracking sense of humour. I still find it hard to believe he is gone, he will be missed by many many people. It was a privelage to know him and he gave joy and happiness to all who were lucky enough to have crossed his path. God bless you fella.”

“From Nick and Jan. Thank you for the kind words for a dear friend. It was my choice of photo so please don't blame the Telegraph. It was painful to chose one and we had not much time to do it. He touched all of our hearts and will be deeply missed. People like him pass us by once in a lifetime. Those of us who knew him are devastated, and those who didn't know him, well you've know idea what you have missed. Funeral is at the Holy Trinity Church 27th March then Scunthorpe Crem 2.30. Back to Six Bells for the "Big Nick Bash". No flowers please, any donations to his favourite charity, Katies Concerts.

Be at peace, son of Gondor.”
