A CONCERNED father has held initial talks to see new safety measures installed at a notorious accident blackspot outside his home.

John Cross, 36, of Butterwick Road, Messingham, was left distraught after a serious accident which left three people hospitalised saw two vehicles smash into his garden.

An investigation into the crash has been launched by North Lincolnshire Council and Humberside Police into the cause of the accident.

Mr Cross said: "I'm hoping this could be the beginning of the end in terms of the danger being posed to my family, but the proof will be in the pudding and I will keep fighting until something is done.

"We discussed several options including crash barriers, a mini-roundabout and traffic lights.

"I'm just hoping a praying something can be done sooner rather than later, I don't feel like we have time to wait around on this one, not while my family are in danger."

The accident caused extensive structural damage to Mr Cross's home and wrote of his new Fiat Punto which was sat in the driveway.

Pete Scott, head of safer roads for North Lincolnshire Council, said: "Council officers will be investigating Saturday's accident, and any others that have occurred at this junction recently.

"As with all such situations, we will have to wait until that investigation is complete before we are in a position to determine whether any changes to the junction are warranted."
