Firearm features in Scunthorpe shop robbery on Wells Street
Police are investigating an armed robbery in Scunthorpe on Friday night (October 19), officers being called about 8.30pm.
They received reports that a man had entered a shop on Wells Street and asked the shopkeeper behind the counter for some cigarettes before alleged discharging a firearm which resulted in a number of bottles behind the counter being damaged.

He left the premises empty-handed.
The shopkeeper, a man in his 40s, sustained slight injuries to his head which were caused by glass from the broken bottles.

Specially trained officers were deployed in an attempt to locate the offender, who it is believed have made his way on to Crosby Street, Berkeley Street and George Street.
The offender is described as being white and 6ft tall, wearing a grey hoodie, dark tracksuit bottoms and a grey ski mask.
Police believe the shopkeeper spoke to a number of people outside the premises following the incident.
They may have been of Polish nationality and could hold information which is important to the investigation.
They are being asked to contact police immediately.
Anyone who can provide police with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 1937071.
Police arrested a man in his 20s, held in custody at Scunthorpe police station for questioning.
