Mark Wilkinson, general manager at the store, said he was pleased with the results of the project.

He said: "After 23 years on Beechway, the store was looking tired and needed bringing up to the standards we set ourselves as a company.

"We felt that customers in the Scunthorpe area deserved the same quality of store as our customers experience in Hull.

"We're absolutely delighted – even customers who have been using the store for 20 years have walked in and gone 'wow'."

A reopening event will be held on Saturday, November 3, to celebrate the store's new look.

The event will include appearances from big names in the angling world.

Mr Wilkinson said: "We have John Wilson, who was voted greatest angler of all time, and Mick Brown coming to open the store.

"We're also hoping to get Terry Hearn to come along.

"These are the superstars of the angling world."

The ribbon will be cut at 9am, and the shop is open until 5.30pm.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available and there will be opportunities to get books or rods signed by the guest anglers.

The store is also starting its Christmas sale, with more than a quarter of a million pounds worth of products reduced.

Chapman's Angling also has a store in Hull and the firm is one of the largest angling stores in England, stocking more than 26,000 items.

In store, the firm caters mostly for carp and specimen fishing and coarse fishing. It also offers catalogue ordering for all varieties of fishing in-store and has a comprehensive online shop.

The store is open from 9am to 5.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

It opens from 9am to 7.30pm on Thursdays and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
