The flood alert on the lower River Ancholme - including Brigg - has been removed by the Environment Agency.

Introduced on Sunday morning, it had covered Bishopbridge, Brandy Wharf, Brigg, and South Ferriby.

While the alert was in place, the Agency suggested tributaries of the Ancholme might also affect parts of Waddingham, Redbourne, Moortown, and Hibaldstow.

At one point on Sunday the water level in Brigg rose to 2.5 metres - at which point flooding was said to be possible.

“With any luck the river has been over the top and washed all the dog shut away from the path and verges in Brigg so they can have a fresh start. It absolutely stinks there especially in the summer. Dirty suds!”
