Flood warden for Brigg
A NEW role looks like coming the way of a Brigg town
councillor, who is always keen to do his bit for the
-

community.
Coun Ben Nobbs is in line to become the town's first flood
warden.
He has attended a special course in Lincoln, organised by
the Environment Agency, and is now studying a training
manual.
Flood wardens help advise people living in low-lying areas
when their homes are at risk from nearby rivers and streams –
in the case of Brigg town centre, the River Ancholme.

“I would like to ask if Cllr Nobbs will be promoting flood elliviation measures and supporting my views on re-developing the area around the former sugar beet factory at Scawby Brook as washland for the beck. Allowing this area to flood during periods of sustained heavy weather will reduce the risk of flooding to the residents of Scawby Brook and the gas fired power station. I have already discussed this with colleagues at the EA and understand that funding may be available via DEFRA. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts!
