'Freezing business rates would give a major boost'
Small businesses across Hull and the East Riding could be given a vital boost in this month's Budget with a freeze on business rates.
Freezing business rates would give a major boost to many local businesses, particularly retailers who have been lobbying the Government over the growing gaps on the UK's high streets as they continue to link increasing business rates with rising vacancy rates.
We would also like to see the Chancellor increase the VAT registration threshold and widen the Employers National Insurance Contributions holiday for start-ups.
These simple measures would provide significant savings for many small businesses across Hull and the East Riding, allowing more businesses to survive and grow."
