MANAGER Ian Baraclough admits the continuing injury problems suffered by Scunthorpe United defender David Mirfin are becoming increasingly frustrating.

The centre-back is almost certain to miss Saturday's derby clash with Hull after pulling up with a thigh strain during training on Sunday.

"It is frustrating for him and frustrating for me," said Baraclough.

"David has been one of our most consistent performers over the past couple of seasons but seems to have been struck by one injury after another."

Mirfin's name is added to a casualty list which is crippling United's Championship survival efforts at the moment.

However, all those out of action remain committed to the cause, according to Baraclough.

"At Middlesbrough I was getting text messages wishing good luck from players who are out of the team through injury," he said.

"They are all desperate for the team to do well.

"They all want to play a part.

"The squad we have here are all pulling in the right direction.

"With our backs against the wall, there is a togetherness."

Midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim will also miss the Tigers game as he serves a one-match suspension for a red card against Boro.

“I think he will stick Hughes into the anchor role over Wright, on Saturday - a lack of sendings off is alarming for a side so near to the bottom of the table...odd ot say the least after last term, when we were disciplinary villans and mint at home - very frustrating .

At least Bara has signed men, not kids - I think that plus plenty of height and no grass on the pitch might just swing it on Saturday - Hull wont fancy GP that is a fact.

Flood the away dressing rooms, disconnect the hairdryers, have the Barton town band in residency at Forest Pines at 3am every Friday night, open the GWS corner to over 18's, pound a pint in the Iron Bar pre match and set the tannoy in the Caparo to 'feedback' and start making GP a fortress - ONLY THE CLUB CAN DO THIS.

IT'S A NEW DAY SO LET A MAN COME IN AND DO THE POPCORN!

    UP THE IRON!”

“Is it not a fact that we have far to many SICKNOTE PLAYERS in our team, just look at the same old names that crop up sick or pull up injured regularly,no good blaming Parkin all the time,it is time for the players up for the fight to stand up and be counted,we need battlers not bottlers."UP THE IRON"!!!”

“No Graham, Josh Wright hasnt been playing because Bara has realised he has better in the squad and he's been one of the worst players on the pitch the last few games he's played”

“We must be telepathetic jingles !
Hopefully we will play Josh Wright now on Saturday. Look at Blackpool they see the bigger picture and hang on to Adams and still play him!! Not only can we not sign people but we have the nerve to have principles and leave players out who just want to further their careers..”

“interesting, bara stressing the point that the players concerned all want to play, and are basically not ducking this shambles of a survival push !!”

“From an interest point of view,is there alist of players who have missed games thro injury or other reasons.? we seem to have had more than our fair share .It has been known in the past that when things are not right in a club the injuries seem to increase. Hope this never happens at Scunny. Also hope we can field a STRONG team on Sat and tame the TIGERS”
