A GARDEN party in aid of Dylan's Dream saw a bumper crowd come out to enjoy the summer sun as the campaign's total continues to soar.

The event, in St John's Close, Burringham, was organised by Dylan's great great aunt, Trudi Frost, as the family look to raise £50,000 for the operation which could help Dylan walk for the first time.

More than £13,000 has now been raised by the campaign since it began in July, with a series of major fundraising events coming later this month.

Trudi said: "The response to the campaign has been absolutely overwhelming and I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to help Dylan.

"From people who take the time to organise events to everyone who have donated. Every contribution, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated.

"We've got a really exciting couple of months ahead of us and the support we've had from everyone so far has given us a start we couldn't have even dreamed of two months ago."

The event included a host of attractions, such as stalls, a raffle and home-made refreshments.

Mrs Frost, 72, said: "We've had good weather for it, which has been a blessing, and we've been really pleased with how the day has gone.

"We didn't set a specific target, but then every little helps so it's just about raising as much money as possible.

"I've been planning it for the past couple of months so it's nice to see everyone here and it's been a lovely day."

The event kicks off a hectic September for the Dylan's Dream campaign, with daredevil stunts and a date with Manchester United in the Carling Cup set to raise thousands to help the dream become a reality.

On Friday, Dylan's family will set off to climb Snowdon, Wales' highest peak, and will be joined by Dylan at the summit.

A week later, mum Fi will be joined by friends for a skydive at Hibaldstow Airfield, before Dylan leads out Scunthorpe United as they face Premier League giants Manchester United at Glanford Park on Wednesday, September 22.

On October 22, a fundraising night will be held at Winterton Rangers in aid of Dylan's Dream.

Organiser Claire Vickers hit the streets of Winterton this weekend to promote the event and is optimistic of a big turnout.

She said: "We're getting out early to promote the night and have got a group set up on Facebook.

"We've got about 200 tickets available so we're hoping to raise about £1,000 in ticket sales alone.

"Prizes for raffles are being donated by members of the public and people are being so generous. Things are going really well and we're hoping it's going to be a big boost to the campaign."
