In the higher handicap division, Tom Lewan (40) took the honours, two points clear of Chris Hardy and Pete Murray, who were separated by count-back.

At Elsham, Sally Leaning and Su Waldron won the Jackson Trophy, a foursomes medal with a high/low draw for partners, with a nett 73.5.

Barbara Barton and Dawn Blewitt (nett 77) came second.

Entry for Elsham's first Spring Open Am/Am was full, with 23 teams of four from all over Lincolnshire and neighbouring counties competing in the rain.

The best two scores on each hole counted and players played off 3/4 handicap.

First place went to Keith Barnes, Kev Stanham, Andy Longford and Paul Holloway, from Ashby Decoy, with 82 points.

A team from Boston, Welton and Woodhall Spa came second with 78 points.

In third was a team from Bradford Woolley Park, Otley with 77.

There were 12 twos.
