TOMORROW – and lots more tomorrows – will see an 11-year-old North Lincolnshire schoolgirl set out on the road to stardom.

Grace Glevey has been picked to play the title role in the musical Annie, alongside television stars Su Pollard, as Miss Hannigan, and David McAlister, as Daddy Warbucks.

The year-six student at Bottesford's Holme Valley Primary School will get her first taste of the bright lights when the show opens for its UK run at Lincoln's Theatre Royal on July 15.

Grace, of Lincoln Gardens, Scunthorpe, said: "I'm very excited and looking forward to visiting lots of places I have never seen before.

"The furthest I have been from home to date is Jersey."

Her proud father, locksmith Vince Glevey, said: "Annie is her first professional role and she is thrilled to be working with Sue Pollard, who is great fun and has a larger-than-life personality.

"Grace's life revolves around performing and she needs little encouragement to take the stage.

"We are grateful to her singing teacher Joan Crowther, from Burton-Upon- Stather, for her hard work and continued support."

After the Lincoln shows, Grace will rejoin the cast for a run starting in Nottingham on September 14 and also taking in Belfast, Dartford, Hamilton, Llandudno, York, Londonderry and Birmingham.

On the tour, the Scunthorpe star-in-the making will play the title role at alternative performances, because of the laws governing the number of hours under-16s can work in the theatre.

Grace said: "My favourite number from the show is Maybe, because it is full of optimism.

"I love Annie because it cheers people up and that's what I like to do.
