For those with a sweet tooth, there will also be delicious, freshly made crepes.

Along with the delicious food on offer, there will be the chance to buy a wide range of other goods from handbags and leather items and Marseille soaps, to lavender, children’s toys and pashminas.

Market organiser Olivier Simonin, said: “We have professional continental market traders from across Europe and many of the traders will be wearing traditional costumes, selling high quality products.

"Most of the products on sale will come from each stallholder’s region, where they are produced by small organisations such as family businesses, farms or small factories using traditional methods, maintaining a high standard of quality.”

On Friday and Saturday (Sept 28 and 29), from 10am to 4pm, there will be an antiques fair on The Podium @ Scunthorpe Market, spilling out into Library Square.

This is described as another great opportunity to pick up those antiques and collectables for your home.

Shoppers are being reminded by the council that they can enjoy one hour's free parking in the new car park behind Scunthorpe Market.

Councillor Liz Redfern, the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The traditional food and craft fair will showcase different produce from Europe, so expect something a little different.

“The fair has been organised in plenty of time for Christmas so if you are looking for something to buy friends and loved ones, this could be the place to come.

“With the huge range of food and gifts available and with stallholders getting into the spirit of the event by wearing traditional costumes, there will be a great atmosphere.”
