Gritters out in force to tackle North Lincolnshire roads in bad weather
Council gritters are out in force for the third time today (January 21, 2013), making sure the region's roads are safe.
North Lincolnshire Council has confirmed that gritters will be heading out after lunch today - having already been out on two separate occasions this morning.

"All routes are now passable with care.
"Precautionary routes have been gritted overnight and are being done again now.
"Ploughs have been used on the A15 on both lanes.
"The gritters were our from 1.30am to 4.30am and again this morning.
"I saw five lorries out at 10am and they will be returning out after lunch."
The latest Met Office predictions forecast that light snow will return to the Scunthorpe area this afternoon and temperatures will remain below freezing.

“They are doing a job they are paid to do. Big deal.
They should be gritting 24/7 but they don't.
I would love the highways department to be audited, because I think that would open a can of worms.”

“It's winter - gritters tend to come out in winter because the temperatures are that much lower than in other seasons. It has been the case for as long as I can remember. They are paid for out of the council tax and operated by the local council and they distribute salt which melts ice and snow.
Not news really but it seems an explanation was needed for those who need dumbing down a bit more.”
