Gritters tackle the snow across North Lincolnshire (updated: 3pm)
North Lincolnshire Council gritters are keeping the roads safe, by constantly keeping on top of the snow today (Saturday, January 26).
Teams have been out constantly since the snow started last night (Friday, January 25).
Councillor Nigel Sherwood, cabinet member for highways and neighbourhoods, said: "They have been out all the time and they have been trying to keep things moving.
"The full team has been out gritting the roads as best they can.

One of the problems at the moment is the lack of traffic, which is needed to move the snow on.
"Gritters have been out all the time and they will keep going out."
Meanwhile, all games today in the TSW Scunthorpe and District Football League have been cancelled due to snow.
1pm: Humberside Police say traffic lights are out of action on the junction of Oswald Road and Mary Street in Scunthorpe.
Highways are currently in attendance.
3pm: North Lincolnshire Council gritters are now out salting precautionary routes.

“The Ed sent Simon up the town
to interview a Gritter.
He came back down with a frown
and grit shoved up his notebook!”

“Problem is though some people believe these reports and probably end up staying inside, if they ventured out they would feel it is a lot warmer and the main roads are perfectly ok. That is what is wrong with society today; some people are like sheep and seem incapable of working things out for themselves.
Simon please leave the story alone now and concentrate on another storey.”

“But they aren't out TODAY. Nigel Sherwood spoke to someone yesterday morning and said the gritters would be out until 7 or 8 pm last night. Gritters have done a good job but they have the weekend off because they have.”

“The gritting teams have done a very good job. Came home from work at 7 this morning, no problems. Good effort by the teams.”

“Simon - NO - I have just come back from the other side of town to Scotter - all the roads are clear, NO GRITTERS to be seen AS IT IS 3 DEGREES AND THE SNOW IS FAST THAWING.
More sensationalist lazy OUT OF DATE reporting.”
