Council gritters will be out in force again this evening making sure the region's roads are safe.

North Lincolnshire Council will recommence its gritting from 6pm today (January 16, 2013).

The council is continuing to monitor the weather situation.

Reports have said council teams completed the gritting of pavements along both sides of Ashby Road, from Rowland Road to Ashby Turn.

Humberside Police are also reminding drivers to put their lights on as freezing fog and temperatures of -5 are making driving and visibility difficult.

Freezing temperatures are expected to continue overnight and into tomorrow (Thursday, January 17).

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for Yorkshire and the Humber on Friday, which means people need to be prepared for snow.

A spokesman for the RAC said: "We were 54 per cent busier yesterday (Tuesday, January 15), compared with the same day in 2012."
