"Group 62 went on to make a significant contribution to the local amateur drama scene.
"As well as popular dramas and comedies, the group often opted for the challenge of major productions like Roses of Eyam and Brigadoon, as well as modern classics such as The Chalk Garden and On Golden Pond.
"Myself and my wife Heather were privileged to be associated with them for more than 25 years. We would like to congratulate Group 62 on its 50th anniversary and wish them well for the next half century."
Teri Kent, a member from Group 62 since 1987, said: "We are like a family and are a small group who can always rely on each other.
"We enjoy performing together and normally perform two plays every year.
"We have seen each other through hardships and celebrated the good times together.
"My daughter and husband are also involved in the group so it runs in the family."
Teri said Group 62 currently consists of more than 20 people who meet regularly to rehearse.
She said: "To show the popularity of the group, we have a lot of long-standing members and our president Eileen Verran has been with the group since it started.
"Depending on what shows we are performing, we have children as young as eight in the cast and performers who are 80-plus.
"I would not have been going as long as I have been if I didn't think it was great."
