Woolford: I would be happy to sign a new deal with the Iron
WINGER Martyn Woolford insists he has no reason to believe he will be leaving Glanford Park during the January transfer window.
Woolford, who fired Scunthorpe ahead after 14 minutes in their 2-0 victory at Burnley yesterday, insists too that he has spoken to no other club.

The Iron's Chris Dagnall and Martyn Woolford celebrate during a 2-0 win at Brian Laws' Burnley
Out of contract next summer, the United player was linked with Nottingham Forest before Christmas, with manager Billy Davies reported to be ready with a £400,000 bid to tempt Iron boss Ian Baraclough into selling the former York City midfielder.
That situation could become more concrete come the opening of the January transfer window in three days time.
But for the 25-year-old, it promises to be a quiet start to 2011 in that respect.
"It's flattering when you are being linked with other clubs, but my focus is on keeping Scunthorpe United in the Championship this season," Woolford told the Telegraph.
"I have not spoken to any other club. I have no reason to believe that I will not still be at Glanford Park at the end of January.
"I am happy here. Scunthorpe have been a good club to me, they gave me my chance.
"If the terms were right, then I would be happy to sign another contract and stay at Scunthorpe.
"But all I am really focusing on at the moment is doing my job out there on the pitch."
Woolford took his season's goals tally to seven when he fired United ahead at Turf Moor.
Chris Dagnall made the result safe by netting the second goal six minutes before the end of the match.
"It's a massive result after five defeats, which is always difficult to get your head around," Woolford said.
"We came with a game plan to try to put Burnley under pressure – I thought we did that well.
"It was important we got off to a good start to help our confidence. We built on that and could have scored five or six."
With some fans wondering where the next victory would come from after their losing run, Woolford claimed his team-mates were always confident of snapping that poor form sooner rather than later.
"People might have thought it had got to us, but we were never going to let it get us down," added Woolford.
"Being in the relegation zone is never nice for anyone and we have got to make sure we try to get out of it as quickly as we can.
"The team spirit is always there and I think it always will be.
"We have got the character to fight through any battle. We have shown that before at different times in different leagues.
"Hopefully this performance will give us the confidence we need to push on."

Still living too near Haddocksville to appreciate reality down at GP. Where have you been whilst our season has been falling apart? These rare three points have made you grab the maggot has it !”

“What makes a difference to team performance is having all your own players on the park and not a bunch of useless, non-committed loanees (Sears, McDonald, N'Guessian). Even if your own players are only Lge 1 standard, at least they try.
I note that Hayes has come off the bench in the last two (losing) Barnsley games so no chance of getting him then.
If Wooly wants to stay get him to sign a new contract in January or sell him.
Laws will end up in Lge 1 or 2. Thats his level.”

“the fans are always quick to point the finger but maybe they should have a look at themselves now and again, at gp we only get around 5,000 home supporters and create no atmosphere at all!!
we have signed a player for £350,000 on crowds of 5,000, is that really showing lack of ambition?
people of scunthorpe should start going to watch the team instead of banging on with their negative comments on here, i bet you never go watch them!!
We should be a good league 2 club at best, so stop moaning!!”

P. Doff - "Why didnt we play better??? Its a consiracy!!! Wharton wants us relegated because he wants to liquidate the club??? This clubs run by a bunch of baboons!!! We got lucky last night. Barca were all over us for the first 5 minutes!!!
Doof - More proverbial brown stuff spouts out your mouth then what runs out my 7 month olds backside!!!
Your that pathetic and ridiculous at first I found you quiet funny. Now I realize its not an act and you do actually believe the things you say.
Dont worry though, keep taking your medicine and those men in white coats will stay away for a little while longer.

“Whatever happens Mr Doff will moan & groan. Most Iron fans are a little frustrated with our inconsistency at home, this is sure to turn round (tigers proved that) a couple or so suitable signings in jan will kick start the season again.Mr Doff should try "supportind the likes of Crystal Palace,Preston,Sheff Utd he would then be able to MOAN till 2012 Happy new year to all the Iron supporters & ALL AT THE CLUB”

“It's bigger than just one game you deluded fool. You blinkered visioned clappers only see what is put in front of you and cannot scratch beyond the surface.
We won another game away from home but fail to see that it is our home form that must improve before even you will see that we have no hope.
Nothing has changed, we will sell in January, cut the wage bill further, fail to replace and so continue on the downward spiral.
Keep our best players, bring in some talent, offload the crap and my face will be beaming but come the end of January we will see who is right.”

i'm generally pleased Scunny won yesterday but P.doff and his M8 Brian Lewis, damn Scunny if they lose and damn them if they win.”
