Harris triumphs on home territory in Open Day

Lady golfers from around the county took part in Elsham's Ladies Open Day.

Winner of the Silver Division was Elsham's own Sarah Harris with 37 Stableford points off 7/8 of her handicap.

Second place was taken by Jane Crooks (36), while Tracey Wilkinson (33) was third after a countback from Barbara Unwin.

Fifth place was taken by Jocie Hallam with 32 points, again after a countback.

Ashby Decoy's Jane Iverson won the Bronze Division with 35, ahead of home player Jacqui Boswell (34) who came second after a countback from Jo Burndreo.

Crooks, the only player to score a two, also shone in the afternoon nine-hole foursome competition with her Elsham partner Judith Ainsworth, scoring 20 points to win on the front nine.

June Willows and Burndreo (19) finished second and Shirley Farley, from Elsham, with partner Chris Hutchinson, came third with 18 points after a countback.

Elsham's Patsy Davies and Carol Croft burnt up the back nine to score 21 points and win this side, three points ahead of Belinda Briggs and Pat Fox in second place.

Third place was taken by Diane Humphries and Jane Iverson from Ashby Decoy.

Twenty-one teams of Elsham members played a mixed Texas Scramble to celebrate the Jubilee and the winners were Richard Belfield, Darren Fuller, Neil Roberts and Graham Smith with a nett 57.

Anne and Richard Armitage, Shirley Whitehand and Su Waldron came in second with a nett 57.8, and Danny and Elizabeth Carter, Megan and Robert Taylor finished third with a nett 58.5.

Luke Boden won the juniors' Stableford competition with 36 points.

Connor Hobbins captained Elsham's "younger" juniors in a match at Forest Pines and came away with a respectable 2-1 loss.
