HAVING been closed for over a month because of the snow and bad weather, apart from two brief days before the New Year, Elsham Golf Club finally opened up again this week and competitions have been able to proceed.

The men have been given extensions to their winter league matches and the ladies to their winter knock-out.

The Ladies enjoyed their first competition of the year in what turned out to be a very pleasant and sunny winter's afternoon.

Twenty-seven ladies played 12 holes, with Jennifer Hedley winning the silver division with 25 points ahead of Janet Westray with 24.

Sue Hargreaves won the bronze division with another 25 points, beating Barbara Barton into second place with her 21.

Lady vice-captain Sally Brown won the 30-36 group with 23 points, beating Gwen Bearfield into second place on a count-back.

Work has also started to rebuild the section of the clubhouse that was damaged by fire last year and the professional's shop will soon be reopened after its refurbishment as well.
