NORTH Lincs Invaders brushed off their opponents on home water to maintain a dominant stranglehold on the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Team15 Championship.

Round two, held at Barton-upon-Humber, was staged on a bright and breezy day, perfect for the North Lincolnshire youngsters, who set a blistering pace, winning three of the four classes to take the team prize for the second time this season.

In a competitive meeting in the 6.8m and 5.8m fleets, Davis brothers Jed (13 years old) and Harry, 12, took first place in the 6.8m and 5.8m fleets respectively.

In the former class, Jed was pushed hard by Invaders team-mates Ruben Lansley, 13, and Max Butler, 15, but managed to hold off the competition to push Ruben into second and Max third.

In the 5.8m class, 13-year-old Jordan Howram tried to force his way past team-mate Harry, but had to settle for second as the top five was made up exclusively of Invaders members in the 5.8m and 6.8m classes.

Lewis Russell won the 4.5m class for North Lincs, with team-mate Jack Bramley not far behind in second.

This dominance was broken briefly when the visiting fleet from Wakefield, the Pugneys Pirates, scored well in the junior races with three out of the top five places in the 3.5m class going to the Pirates.

But the home team still came out on top in the team event.

North Lincs kept their points down to nine to take top spot, Pugneys Pirates were second with 22 points and Derwent Devils followed with 51 points.

The next round of the RYA North Zone Team15 competition will be back on the Northumberland/Durham border when the fleets return to Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club this weekend.
