Hoodie attackers assault man near Scunthorpe town centre

Police are appealing for information in connection with an assault in Scunthorpe at the junction of Station Road and Cole Street.

Between 2.45am and 3am on Thursday June 21, a 40 year-old man was walking alone when he was approached by two men.

reference 1913891.

Police says the men are alleged to have assaulted him before asking for money, which he handed over.

The 40 year-old sustained nose, back and  hand injuries and attended Scunthorpe General Hospital for treatment.

The offenders are described as white, aged in their early 20s, of medium build and between 5ft 9ins and 6ft.

They were both wearing light-coloured hooded tops.

One of the men had dark jeans and the other was wearing tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone who may have information in connection with the incident is asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting crime reference 1913891.

    “It makes a huge difference if I am being followed by them or see them loitering around a cash machine when i go to get some money out!!!
    I believe it to be a very important part of the description of the culprits and since he was approached and asked by them for money, then the victim should know what they sounded like.”
