In tandem with this, house prices held steady during December and surveyors reported a fall in prices to a much smaller degree than in previous months.
In line with this, surveyors in the East Midlands had a positive view of the price outlook between now and March. Two percent more respondents predicted a rise rather than a fall in prices over the following three months – the first positive price expectation since February 2010.

Jonathan O'Shea, East Midlands residential spokesman for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), said: "We too have seen a marked upturn in applicant and viewer activity.
"In 2010, the last time things picked up this early, we had a good year. Confidence does seem to be improving which might have been helped by the impact of the Funding for Lending Scheme.
"This being said, first time buyers are still struggling to access the market and there is a clear need for more homes to be built."

“More lambs to the slaughter come to mind, some people would say that these so called experts are trying to hype up the dead housing market. The only thing that is keeping the housing marked bubble going is cheap money from the bank of England and certain government initiatives. House prices have got to fall in real terms as they are to over valued at present. It would be a brave person to buy but best of luck, anybody thinking of buying should do their research slowly and carefully looking at the general economy and what is said on the internet regarding house price projections. Interest rates will start to rise soon as will inflation.”

“Is the crystal ball ball reliable , With job insecurity it take a brave person to take on buying a house you will need regular employment and cash put by for any repairs , And if you come out of work you will find little help comes your way .”
