IN AN unpredictable and difficult economic climate, if you are trying to sell commercial properties, an extra surge of support is a welcome idea.

To help the region's commercial property agents gain more business, Mail, News & Media has launched its new website – www.thisishullandeastriding.co .uk/estate-agents/commercial- property

The site has been set up to give local agents the opportunity to advertise their properties on the website, giving a further platform to attract new clients and complement the agents' own websites.

Hull's Garness Jones is one of the first agents to join up.

Managing director Dave Garness said the online activity with commercial property has grown massively over the past couple of years.

He said: "We have seen a 70 per cent increase of people looking on the website.

"We have worked very hard at developing our own site and now, we think it is important to work with Mail News & Media on this new venture.

"It is essential we have an online presence as well as print and we are making sure our clients can access properties easily."

Mr Garness said that by having an online presence, it allows those people who do not want to speak to an agent straight away, to still browse properties with no pressure.

Mr Garness said: "When it is a fledgling idea that is very tentative, people may not want to go onto a mailing list, so it is great for that.

"It offers people a full package. They can research the locality online, too."

Nick Pearce, of PPH Commercial has also got involved in the new site and said it is all about having the vehicle to promote properties in both print and online media.

Mr Pearce said: "We get a lot of traffic through our site and a lot of enquiries online.

"In view of the increase of traffic through the Hull Daily Mail website and the increase of traffic through our own site, a commercial property site is a logical step and gives our clients more coverage."

Mr Pearce said he believes its is important businesses keep up to date with the digital era.

He said: "Digital media is one of the ways the market is changing.

"It is a natural progression for businesses to do this."

PPH Commercial has also seen an increase in traffic on its own website. Mr Pearce said: "We have always had a good level of coverage on the site but we have seen an increase in the number of people accessing it.

"We have seen the number of visitors increase year on year."

Jane Smallwood, Mail, News & Media property manager, said the Mail's new website will be the ideal platform for the region's commercial property agents to advertise their properties and attract new clients.

She said: "This new website will provide the perfect way for agents to further the exposure of their commercial properties.

"We have thousands of visitors to the thisishull website everyday, so we are confident the new site will attract plenty of potential customers to view commercial properties and in turn, increase business for the local commercial property agents."
