Humber Bridge crossings up by 235,000 since toll cut
MORE than 235,000 extra vehicles have crossed the Humber Bridge since tolls were cut.
The cost of the crossing was cut from £3 to £1.50 for cars from April 1.

Latest figures from the Bridge Board show that 59,403 motorcycles, 3,111,498 cars, 99,030 vans and 157,760 trucks have made the crossing since April - an increase of over seven per cent.
During the same period last year, 6,437 fewer motorcycles; 250,442 fewer cars, 7,233 fewer trucks but 28,772 more vans crossed the bridge – an overall total of 235,340 more vehicles.

Tolls were halved after the Government wrote off £150m of the bridge's debt.
Crossings by motorcyclists rose 12 per cent after fees for them were abolished.

“And still NLC can't get it into their heads that if they give 2 Hours Free Parking in Scunthorpe that it will help to regenerate the town and create hundreds of extra jobs.
It really is such a simple concept it's laughable that they can't see the wood for the trees.”
