The set includes programmes from 1974 to 2001, some of which are signed by stars including Ian Botham and George Best.

Mr Baggley now lives in Hull and has had to sell the collection because of a lack of space for the programmes.

Mel Banham, head of fundraising at the hospice, said: "Mark's kind gesture is much appreciated.

"Because Iron fans live all over the world, we decided that the best way of getting them into the hands of a true fan was to auction them online.

"What is on offer is a fantastic collection of Scunthorpe United home programmes from season 1974 to 2001.

"All programmes are in mint or virtually mint condition and each are in a beautiful programme binder.

"The binder has each programme in an individual cellophane pocket and has the team and season on the spine of the binder in gold.

"There are a total of 27 binders and approximately 750 programmes fitting into four boxes."

The auction is due to close at 12.01am on Saturday, November 24 and any buyer would be expected to purchase the full collection.
