The annual Light Up A Life remembrance service saw hundreds of people turn up to see the lights of the tree of memories being switched on last night.

Each light represented a loved one for those in attendance.

The tree, which was switched on outside the Foundry Shopping Centre, is illuminated each year in support of Macmillan Cancer Trust and Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

Jenni Martin, chairman of Macmillan Cancer Support, said that this year over 1,300 people sent in remembrance forms and they have so far raised £9,000.
