She said: "The function room and members lounge were in desperate need of updating.

"The rooms had not been redecorated for about 15 years.

"So we spent a lot of money to completely update the two areas.

"We have wall papered and re-carpeted both rooms and bought a lot of new furniture.

"We have bought comfy sofas and chairs for the members lounge and the function room now it is a great setting for any party or wedding.

"It is all brand new and open for people to see."

Claire took over the stewardship of the club with her partner Stuart Campbell in April last year.

The change came after Claire's mother Karen Markham quit as steward after five years in charge.

Claire said she was happy with the finished refurbishment project at the club, which is the biggest membership club in Scunthorpe.

And she said the revamp had already led to an increase in bookings at the venue.

She said: "We are all really pleased with the finished rooms and hope our customers will enjoy them.

"It took ten weeks to complete the works and we are very pleased with the outcome.

"Staff have seen an increase in bookings, especially for weddings.

"The response has been great."

Claire said both the lounge and function room had been brightened up with a brand new colour scheme.

And she said the refurbishments could be extended to other parts of the building in years to come, if funds allow.

She said: "Hopefully in the future, we can improve the other rooms in the building but this could take a few years because of the money needed.

"We are always looking at improving our facilities to make it the best place for our customers to enjoy."
