The £1m deal marks the 13th acquisition for Neil Hudgell Solicitors since the firm announced major expansion plans back in February 2011.

The growth has seen the firm increase its staffing levels to 100 – almost double those in 2011.

Managing director Neil Hudgell said: "This is the latest in a series of deals and the third deal we've done involving acquisitions from members of the Quality Solicitors network.

"Huge changes in the legal landscape mean many lawyers are exiting Personal Injury and Medical Negligence work or leaving the profession for good."

Neil Hudgell Solicitors specialises in claims for personal injury and clinical negligence – particularly brain injury and dental negligence cases.

Its 100-strong workforce is based at offices in Hull, Leeds and Solihull.

The firm first unveiled its expansion plans in 2011 through the launch of www.webuyanyfiles.com

Since then, it has bought four other legal practices outright, including MMS Solicitors of Hull.

It has also bought caseloads from eight other firms, and Mr Hudgell said there were two more deals in the pipeline, subject to contract.

Mr Hudgell said there had been "significant interest" from general practices looking to inject capital into other areas of their practice by cashing in on the value of their personal injury work.

He said: "We're actively looking to purchase other firms or caseloads as part of our growth strategy.

"We are very interested in entering discussions with any companies looking to refer cases."
