Inquiry launched after man injured in accident at factory
An investigation has been launched into an industrial accident at a chicken processing plant which has left a man with life-threatening injuries.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is currently investigating an incident where the man sustained spinal injuries at the 2 Sisters Food Group plant in Scunthorpe.
He was taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital following the incident, which took place in the Lairage area of the Ram Boulevard factory.
It is understood the injured man works as a machinist and police gave his age as 38.

A spokesman for the HSE said: "The Health and Safety Executive is aware and an investigation is underway together with Humberside Police.
"There is a specialist team of inspectors on the site at the moment.
"A lot of it will determine on what happens with the injured party.
"There is no time limit for these things."
Humberside Police cordoned off the area after the incident and production at the factory was stopped.
East Midlands Ambulance Service and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene, with firefighters administering oxygen and trauma care.
A Humberside Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 2.42pm on September 6 by the ambulance service, who were attending an industrial accident at the 2 Sisters chicken factory on the Foxhills Industrial Estate in Scunthorpe.
"A 38-year-old Scunthorpe man had sustained crush injuries to the body following an incident with a piece of machinery and was taken by ambulance to Scunthorpe General Hospital in a critical condition.
"Inquiries are ongoing at the scene and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed and is investigating the incident jointly with Humberside Police.
"The injured man was detained in hospital. His injuries are described as life-threatening."
A spokesman for 2 Sisters said: "We are in close contact with the hospital and have also visited the family. We are obviously continuing to investigate this incident."
