A PAIR of raiders have been caged for 13 years after a violent burglary at a woman's home.

The men were among four intruders who burst into the woman's home, bundled her into a toilet, stole about £700 cash and ripped a gold chain from her neck.

Leford Gordon, 44, of Yarborough Court, Barton, was jailed for eight years after admitting robbery on August 15 last year.

Alan Bratley, 20, of Station Road, Owston Ferry, was locked up for five years after admitting burglary.

Nigel Clive, prosecuting at Grimsby Crown Court, said Gordon and Bratley went to Janet McFadyean's home in Diana Street, Scunthorpe, at 6.15pm.

The burst in through the front door, pushed her into a downstairs toilet to stop her from leaving while the other three went through her property, demanding to know where her money was.

They took a purse, about £700 cash and some mobile phones and ripped a gold chain from her neck.

Gordon and Bratley were later identified and arrested.

They denied all knowledge of the offences and denied being in Scunthorpe that day but the victim picked them out from an identity parade.

Judge Jeremy Richardson QC condemned the violent and very serious nature of the robbery and burglary and said it must have been a "terrifying" ordeal for the victim in her own home.

The court heard in mitigation that both men eventually pleaded guilty, despite initially denying involvement.

They regretted their actions and the severe distress caused to their victim.

“Debbie, wake up and smell the coffee, why do you and others like you come up with sanctimonius crap about girldfriends and kids etc. He clearly did not give think about his family when he was making some innocent victims life a misery, so why the hell should anyone care about this scum now. If he cared so much about his family he would have got a job, settled down and done the right thing by them. He got what he deserved, probably should have got more.”
