Investigation into Scunthorpe General Hospital welcomed by Brigg MP Andrew Percy and Councillor Rob Waltham
MPs and council bosses today welcomed the investigation into high death rates at Scunthorpe General Hospital.
As reported on www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk yesterday, the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was one of nine announced to be included in Sir Bruce Keogh's investigation.
Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy said: "This comes as no surprise but I welcome the fact that there is going to be a thorough investigation into what is happening.
"Local patients deserve the very best care.

"Clearly, there has been significant issues which have led to these high death rates and we need an added impetus to ensure after the investigation, we can return to the hospital being as safe as it should be."
Councillor Rob Waltham, North Lincolnshire Council's cabinet member for people, also welcomed the investigation.
He said: "Clearly, there are concerns and residents have every need to be reassured that investigations will take place.
"I hope they will be done in a timely manner to provide reassurance to patients and their families that the best possible care will be provided locally.
"It is a proactive thing that they are engaging and testing the measures as to how effective the trust actually is in performing and carrying out its duties.
"What really matters is the trust provides reassurance that everything is being done to provide the best possible care and that is upheld in the investigation."
