WHEN it comes to the threat of relegation, Michael Raynes knows a thing or two from previous experience.

Whether that is a compliment or not is another question, but the defender is adamant the squad he is currently a part of is more than good enough to avoid the drop.

Having won and lost a survival fight during his time at Stockport County, the 23-year-old is hoping it is third time lucky as Scunthorpe United find themselves in the relegation mire with 10 games left.

But, heading into tonight's encounter with bottom of the table Preston North End, the centre-half believes a key aspect in United beating demotion is to avoid worrying about anyone else.

"You don't need to worry about Preston," said Raynes.

"You never know what is going to happen – you can't write people off.

"We need to concentrate on ourselves and make sure we get as many points on the board as possible, and not worry about teams like Preston and others around us.

"I have always found in life, you can't rely on other people.

"We don't need to worry about what we could do to them, we need to get the points on the board.
