Isle of Axholme Rotary raises cash for hospice in memory of Epworth youngster Alexander Strong

A FUNDRAISING evening helped raise money in memory of Epworth youngster Alexander Strong.

The seven-year-old lost his battle to neuroblastoma – a rare children's cancer – on January 25.

Epworth and Isle of Axholme Rotary Club organised the evening of entertainment and food at Epworth's Imperial Hall on Saturday, February 23, to raise funds for other children suffering from the illness.

The event raised £763 for the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice near Sheffield, where Alexander spent his final days.

Between 80 and 90 guests attended the evening and money was raised through ticket sales and donations.

Apart from the cost of hiring the hall, every penny raised will go to the hospice.

Local businesses donated prizes for the raffle.
